We have created this itinerary for customers who want to rent a campervan in Dublin and head the short drive to Waterford to explore this hidden gem. Waterford was always a big feature of my families Irish road trip adventures when I was a kid so I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

County Waterford is just 2 hours drive from Cookies Campers so makes a perfect stop for your Irish campervan adventure. You can either do this as a 3 day itinerary or tag it onto a longer trip to take in the Wild Atlantic Way itinerary.

Day 1: Dublin to Tramore – Coastal Wonders and Culinary Delights

Morning: Start your journey from Cookies Campervan Rental Dublin and head towards the beautiful Comeragh Mountains. Coumshingaun Lake Walk is a short 4km walk which provides great views of the lake. After your walk, move on to the picturesque town of Tramore along the Copper Coast.

Lunch: For a delicious midday meal, grab a bite at The Vee Bistro, renowned for its fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Indulge in traditional Irish dishes and recharge for the adventures ahead.

Afternoon: Explore the Tramore Beach and its hidden coves and relax for the afternoon.

Day 2: Tramore to Dungarvan – Scenic Drives and Culinary Delights

A UNESCO Global Geopark, you can drive, walk, or cycle its winding trails. Stop off at the scenic village of Ardmore and explore the monastery founded by Saint Declan in the 5th century. We highly recommend the picturesque Ardmore cliff walk which is a small town a short drive from Dungarvan.

Lunch: Discover Dungarvan’s culinary scene at the Merrys Gastro Pub, where you can savor locally sourced and expertly prepared dishes.

Afternoon: Take a stroll along the Waterford Greenway, a picturesque cycle way with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Visit the historic Dungarvan Castle and explore its fascinating exhibits. Bikes can also be hired locally to cycle the greenway.

Evening: Park your campervan at the Getaway Eco Camping and enjoy the views. Visit Dungarvan for some culinary delights and music.

Day 3: Dungarvan to Waterford City – History, Culture, and Hidden Gems

Morning: Head to Waterford City, home to the famous Waterford Crystal. Explore the House of Waterford Crystal and witness skilled artisans crafting exquisite crystal pieces. Afternoon tea is served here if you feel like splashing out on something special.

Lunch: Savor a delightful meal at Bodega, a trendy spot offering a fusion of Irish and international flavors.

Afternoon: Discover the hidden gem of Dunmore East and its pristine beaches. Take a stroll along the Dunmore East Cliff Walk for breathtaking views of the coastline.

Evening: Conclude your road trip with a dinner at Momo Restaurant, celebrated for its contemporary Irish cuisine. Park your campervan at The Getaway Eco Camping  and Camping Park, allowing you to wake up to the sounds of the sea.
